Scenes from "Kill 'Em All": Since the Dawn of Thrash Metal

Metallica formed in Los Angeles in 1981 and released their debut album Kill 'Em All on July 25, 1983. With a handful of similar bands, they defined the nascent thrash metal genre and quickly became a touchstone of metal for fans and non-fans alike. The earnest, focused aggression of their early career shaped a cultural generation growing up in tandem with the band.

Scenes from "Kill 'Em All": Since the Dawn of Thrash Metal is a study of that cultural generation in 2010.
